When I became a mother, I realized justice doesn’t just live in the courtroom. It lives in the pumping room, the HR office, and in all those meetings that definitely could have been an email.

As a trial attorney, I spent years defending women facing pregnancy discrimination. But once I had my own baby, something shifted.

I wasn’t speaking for mothers anymore, I was speaking FROM them.

Advocacy stopped being just my job and became a survival skill.

I’ve stood at that crossroads of devotion and ambition (briefcase in one hand, breast pump in the other, baby in carrier) feeling the tension between the courtroom and the pumping room, the guilt of wanting more flexibility, and the fear of asking for it.

Motherhood sharpened my instincts and deepened my empathy.

I started sharing what I knew, translating legal jargon into tools women could use right away.

What began as a few extended leave templates turned into a movement where mothers learn, laugh, negotiate, and rise together.

I’ve helped women maximize time off, secure paid leave, reshape their schedules, and call out unfairness with clarity and charisma.

I’ve lived the contradictions of modern motherhood, drafting motions while nursing, cross-examining through nausea, arguing cases while defending my own rights.

This book is my torch 🔥

Let’s clear something up 🤓

Feminism does NOT mean:

❌ that women and men are identical

❌ that women should prioritize career over family, abandoning caregiving
(no feminist theory demands that women reject caregiving; feminism actively focuses on valuing care and making it economically supported)

❌ that we hate men or want to create a world without them
(this is one of the oldest and laziest myths; feminism challenges oppressive systems, not individual men. Wanting equality is not the same as wanting men to suffer. In fact, feminism actively benefits men by dismantling gender roles that limit them, too.)

Seriously no reputable feminist scholar or leader has ever pushed these ideas. These myths were engineered by people threatened by women’s power and designed to make feminism look anti-family, anti-male, or anti-freedom.

Feminism DOES mean:

✅ that women and men should have equal access to jobs, opportunities, safety, healthcare, education, leadership, and economic autonomy
(An equal shot without systemic barriers)

✅ that women should have genuine freedom to choose the life that suits them, whether career-focused, family-focused, both, or neither
(and wherever they land, society should structurally support them rather than punish them)

Examples of what that support looks like:

👉 paid parental leave for all parents

👉 affordable, quality childcare

👉 universal healthcare, regardless of work status

👉 financial support for stay-at-home parents

👉 workplace flexibility without stigma

👉 safety from gender-based violence, harassment and discrimination

At its core, feminism asks: What would society look like if women weren’t penalized for their bodies, their choices, or their ambitions?

And it works toward making that world real.

Matricentric feminists/matriarchists like me center the experience of the mother.

We pursue a world built around care instead of control.

There are other expressions of feminism, bc there are many goals.

All of them are necessary. All of them co-exist. We are on different paths but all walking in the same direction.
